End of 2020 and the start of another year

This picture sums up most of us in 2020

Today is the last day of 2020 and i am so glad that is coming to an end. With next year 2021, i hope that somewhat fengsui changes and it will be better for all of us .

In 2020 , there's a lot of things to be thankful and a lot of things i wish things were slightly different .

2020 is a year of hibernation for me. This is the first time in so many working years that i able to spend so much time at home with my family and prob this is the first taste of financial freedom?

This year i am thankful for the birth of my 2nd child , Sara . She turns 10 months next week and she is such a joyful cheerful baby. Definitely quieter than her sister but very observant and persistent.
Post pregnancy was also much better than the 1st as my mom and ah kor helping me out with the confinement. SO this gal is brought up full of love right from the starts.

This year i am also thankful for both Marcus and mine financial impact. We hear stories of people loosing their job and getting retrench when the covid hits and also during the MCO . I am so glad that especially Marcus did not get hit when this happens . My makeup job definitely got affected badly so lucky my main job not affected.

I am also very blessed and thankful for the right timing when all these happens .First thing is we manage to get the helper to come in by Feb 2020 before the government stop any foreigner from coming in. We started applying for helper since last year june but no news till this year Feb . I saw some friends was having trouble getting any new foreign helper this year due to the travel restricting . And with the helper here and when Hannah's school was put onhold and i have to work on and off , we are so so thankful with the extra hands we have .

Dad's cancer journey was the only pain in the ass that we have this year. It was really a shock for all of us that this cancer disease hit daddy . His body undergo chemo has weaken so much that during our Christmas trip , he was having trouble walking up the japanese garden hill. Now we just have to pray for the best for him and hopefully he able to have a quality life for the next 5-10 years . With the recent approval of his 2nd medical card , i am so thankful that at least we are not limit by financial constrain when selecting his treatment.

Spending time at home give me the opportunity to spend time with my family especially my parents and i am so grateful for that.

Hopefully next year will be a much better year for all of us ...looking forward to another year in life to able to make a difference .

Hopefully next year i able to do more makeup (hands getting really itchy) , bring my parents to new zealand (my mom wish) and able to bring hannah to disneyland ( this gal been watching too much youtube )

Kuala Lumpur Bird Park

In our last visit home to Subang , we choose to be more hard working and become a tourist in our own country ... by visiting the famous KL Bird Park.
I havent been to this place since i was very young .
This famous bird park is named as the World largest free flight walk in aviary ...

We left home around 9.30am and reached withing 30 mins of drive ...thank god for no jam ...

The ticket cost around $RM27/Adult and baby is free since she is only less than 2 years .
Please remember to bring ur MYCARD. If not you have to pay RM65/adult

Brought total 3 of these - for fish and bird foods

Throughout the day each section of the park have different activities such as this one whereby is Lory feeding.

Can notice that there's a few similar birds roaming around.

Some exotic birds are cage up .... i guess to present being harassed by visitors.

the birds are very tame .. so please do not chase them or try to touch them

 This is the owls sections

Hannah was amazed by these pair of black swams . She keep asking for foods to feed them.
 These are parrots

One of the places she loves

 Bird show everyday 12.30pm and 3.30pm ....
last part where you can feed the ducks

Summary of 2017

2017 ending in less than 1 week and i cant be faster believe that time passes by so fast.
Personally i feel that the older you get , your time passes by faster.
Again every year i will reflect back what happen this whole year and what i am so thankful for .

The most prominent event that happen to me is in my career .
In Aug this year i changed my job role and company. I was always a process engineer for 10 years of my career and i decided for a career switch . I think Kulim plant announcement in Osram makes me think deeper of what i want to do in my life . I always enjoy process engineering but i always wanted to try project management.
So ngam i Motorola Solutions got an opening and i applied and got the job.
Is nearly 5 months plus and i wouldn't say i enjoy the new job or role but i want to give myself more time before i make judgement.
For now i only say that  this job is challenging and the company culture is very different from Osram.

Another thing that happen this year is we move from an apartment 700sqfs to a double storey house .
Reason that trigger the move is because of our little gal need more space to grow.
We wanted her to have more space to play around .

Finally in end of July , Mummy , daddy and I make a trip to Europe for a short 2 weeks tour . So checklist tick for Mummy . I am so happy i able to have this opportunity to fulfill my mummy and daddy's dream. They have this talk for years on traveling to Europe but never had a chance to do that.
Our 2 weeks tour covered from Prague , Munich , Salzburg , Venice , Florence.

My most memorable part of the trip.

On Marcus Chess Academy , we just celebrated our 1st year anniversary yesterday.
Ordered some simple foods (dominos , bee hoon , sausages , jelly , cakes) for the simple celebration .
This year we started to grow slowly .One of our coach quit but we gain another coach .
We hosted a few chess camps and one tournament. Grow is slowly , we have few students quit but few more news one.

I am very thankful for everything that happen this year. A lot of new opportunities and experience that hopefully makes me a better person.
I am also very thankful to God that my family members are healthy .

So what's the plan for next year ???
1. Marcus Chess Academy + shop - to grow this academy with marcus ....our new focus group is to beginners . Hopefully we can bring new coach in as well.

2.Grow portfolio for Makeup artist Jenny Chua .
- I will be graduating after studying part time for more than 1 year plus in the academy.
The new group of classmates is a blessing in disguise and i enjoy their company so so much .
Hopefully growing this hobby of mine into a part time career is something that i wish i can do this year and many years ahead

3.Travel - this year will be going to Lombok in May and finger cross , hopefully Tokyo in Dec/Jan 19

Makan : Chin's Chinese Cuisine and Marcus 33th Birthday Celebration

We celebrated Marcus's 33th Birthday last Wednesday .
That week was a busy busy week as i just started out in the new company.
My first plan was to bring him for buffet dinner at Raya Sayang Resort however last minute my new boss belanja us makan there on Tuesday night. So cannot be Wed night again the same buffet rite ?

So plan change again .With nearly 3 weeks of "Ah Moh" foods , we ended up here in Chin's Cuisine.
This restaurant was recommended by Ben Shyen few years ago but since we both not really a fan of chinese food , so this place wasn't part of our makan place to try.

Chin's Cuisine is located along the Penang jetty.
Last minute on that day itself i requested the menu and book the place for dinner at 8.30pm.

We ordered Set D : which consist of both Chin's specialties : Chin's aromatic crispy duck and lobster in noodle.
The restaurant interior design was impressive with beautiful craft plates , combination of both Chinese and modern design

 Settings pretty grand with chandeliers
Hot appetisers : Heavenly Blessed Joysticks - seafoods on sticks socks in spicy soup. Yummy
I can only identify the prawn on the top of the stick .No idea about the rest.

Next hot appetizers - sesame prawns on toast .Not bad also
Cold appetizers 1 : Hunan Shedded Seaweed
Cold appetizers 2 : Bang Bang chicken ( cold curry chicken)
Cold appetizers 3 : Garlic Cucumber

Next : Aromatic Crispy duck - something like peking duck

 duck for 2 person
The waiter help to shred the duck

duck meat wrap .... one of the best duck ever tasted ..
Normally i dont eat duck coz they have this red meat taste but this one .... zero !!! really enjoy this duck meal

another specialty of this place : Lobster in noodle - very flavorful and fresh

Our main course : double flavoured wild fresh water fish - the chili is good and the fish do not have the mud taste
hot work fragrant chicken - pretty normal
crab and yoke - taste like cawan mushi ...
stir fried garlic with seasonal vege ... by the main course arrive , we are 80% full ....
 lastly desserts
emperor cake and jasmine jelly with sea coconut and white fungus

Very unique fusion chinese foods - really good place to come for special occasion . The whole course meals takes nearly 2 hours ....
Food wise - unique way of cooking . Good to try for those that sick of standard chinese hawker foods.
Our meal came up to RM290 including tax
